I think most of you know by now that my reconstruction surgery was preempted by back surgery on December that became necessary when I was thrown from a horse and cracked my T12 vertebrae and my tailbone. Well it has been almost 5 weeks since it happened and I thought I would give an update on how things are going. I am in a brace and will be until at least early March when I see my surgeon and they take X-rays to see how the healing is progressing. My tailbone just has to heal on its own. It is sensitive but not as painful as I thought it would be. Not really a lot of pain associated with my back at this point…but it gets a bit of a dull ache occasionally if I overdo it. I am getting around really well now and started driving again last week. So…a setback on my quest to return to “normalcy” but I am dealing. Reconstructive surgery is postponed at least until I am out of the brace. I get a little frustrated sometimes at this turn of events, but like I said…I am dealing. Happy that I still have the use of my legs. It could have been a lot worse. I will check in again when I have the results of my X-rays in March.

You are a trooper. Would have loved to see you and the family over the holidays, but I came down with the flu. We need to plan something soon.

I wasn’t aware of your turn of events, but so happy that you are approaching it as you do everything, with a positive attitude! Best wishes in the new year and a speedy recovery with your back so you can move forward on your journey.
