Went to see the neurosurgeon yesterday that worked on my back in December. He was very pleased with healing he has observed so far. He did not recommend a specific physical therapy regimen but recommended that I spend the next months returning my function to normal (bending, twisting, etc). Obviously I have to balance that with recovery from my most recent surgery but I am pleased that it is no longer a restriction. He also recommended waiting at least another 3 months before starting any kind of new exercise. Since I want to start yoga or Pilates, I’ll have to wait until later in the year to do that but I am ok with that. Just the prospect of returning to a somewhat normal life is enough for me right now.
I feel better…got my staples taken out yesterday so moving right along there. I had a bit more energy yesterday. As I scale down the steroids I feel better and better. Just about 5 more days of that and I can go completely off.
Tomorrow I will consult with a radiation doctor about the gamma knife radiation. I know they want the incision to heal first so it will probably be later thus month before I go in for that. I report more when I know more.
Comments from my Caring Bridge supporters:
Cindy, I’m so glad you had a day with your mom even if it was to visit the Dr. Your messages are so appreciated as it keeps all of us informed as to your progress. I prayed so hard while you were in the hospital for some good news for you, your family and your friends as you have so many. You have to be one of the most courageous women I know. Love you, Sandra Cobb
